Perhaps you can help me out. I'm testing features for a mobile productivity application that (I hope) will run on a variety of SmartPhones. One of the features that I'm using is the ability to nest folders in Lotus Notes, like this.

This works fine in Notes, on the web (thanks to iNotes) and on my BlackBerry Bold, via BES.

What I want to know is how well nested folders are supported on other SmartPhones

How you can help:

If you are synching a SmartPhone with Lotus Notes

1. Send yourself 5 sample sample emails to play with.

2. From the Notes client, take the first three of these and file them into a NEW folder using these examples:
        Test\Folder1
        Test\Folder2
        Test\Folder3

3. Now, sync your Notes mail with your mobile device and check to see if the folders appear

4. Finally, from your SmartPhone, take the last two sample emails and try to file them into Folder1 and Folder 2 respectively.

5. Post a comment here and let me know how this worked for you. Be sure to indicate the Type of SmartPhone and synchronization tool used. (e.g. BES, Traveler, mNotes, etc.)

Thanks!

Motorola Milestone (a.k.a. Droid) with TouchDown Exchange for Android 2.0

I have a Motorola Milestone, which in the US is known as the Motorola Droid. Running the Android 2.0 OS.

My email client is TouchDown Exchange for Android 2.0 from { Link }

The email client syncs with Lotus Traveler on the Domino server.

I can see the nested folders on my device, and I can see their contents.

Moving an email (on the device) from the Inbox to any folder does not work properly: It gets moved, but when the device syncs with the Domino server the email gets moved back to the Inbox folder.

Does your SmartPhone Support Nested eMail Folders?

Hi there

HTC Touch Pro

Windows Mobile 6 using default WM email client

Client: Lotus Traveler 8.5

Server: Domino 8.5.1 + Traveler 8.5

OK, step by step:

5 sample emails appear in my notes client inbox correctly

Synchronise first time - folders appear correctly on the device. The sample emails DO NOT appear in those new folders or anywhere else on the device (by default Traveler does not sync folders other than Inbox. I would have had to manually select those folders and didn't)

After moving the two emails to Folder1 and Folder2 on the device, the emails are shown in the correct folders on the device

After synchronising a second time, the emails are shown in the correct folders on the Notes client and remain in the correct folders on the device!

After synchronising a third and fourth time, they remain where they should be (just to double check!)

Mark

Does your SmartPhone Support Nested eMail Folders?

Greetings,

Using: Blackberry Curve 8320

Sync Via: Domino BES

The folders I created and filed on the desktop all showed up on my BB.

I filed the two eMails from my BB and re-sync'd.

From the desktop I resync'd. The two emails still showed in the GTD inbox view and the number of emails in the folder did not reflect the two emails I filed from my BB.

It was not until I performed an action (close and re-open the mail tab, click on a folder and back on the inbox, etc) that refreshed the eMail view did everything visually sync correctly.

Kevin

Does your SmartPhone Support Nested eMail Folders?

I have a Motorola Smartphone (Windows mobile based) which talks to a traveler server. It supports nested folders but I find that they are not easy to get to.

Once you leave the inbox everything seems to get a bit hard. I need it to be quick.

I'm using an iPhone w/Traveler and the tests all worked right away. By the way, the big problem i have with my iphone is lack of a way to sync my tasks- I need a tasks app that can sync to make ePro usable mobile.

BB Curve 8330 with BIS (vs BES) does not support folders. Lotus Traveler doesn't support nested folders, but some have reported success herein with an iPhone (plus aformentioned comment to this fact)..as with all things technology, ymmv on nested folder success.

Does your SmartPhone Support Nested eMail Folders?

I'm currently using a "dinosaur"; an HP iPAQ 6950 running Windows Mobile 5.0. I've been looking for a new phone for 2 years, but have been having difficulty finding one that offers the functionality of being able to set up nested files and then transfer text messages from various sources in a single file. It sounds as if people on this topic may be able to help, either with a phone choice or an app that will facilitate this capability.
